Porcelain veneers in Fort Worth, TX

Thin ceramic shells, designed around your face rather than a template, that correct chips, gaps, worn edges and stains that whitening can’t touch.

Cosmetic dentistry

What are dental veneers?

A veneer is a very thin, custom-made shell bonded to the front surface of a tooth. Because it covers the visible face of the tooth, one veneer can correct colour, shape, length and alignment all at once.

Veneers are a cosmetic solution, not a structural one. Part of our job at the consultation is being honest about whether veneers are the right answer for you, or whether whitening, bonding or orthodontics would serve you better and cost less.

Materials

The different types of dental veneers

Porcelain veneers

Fabricated in a laboratory from high-quality ceramic. Porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel, resists staining well and is the most durable option. Placement takes two visits.

Composite veneers

Built up directly on the tooth from tooth-coloured resin in a single visit. Less expensive and easily repaired, though generally not as stain-resistant or long-lasting as porcelain.

The process

What to expect when getting veneers

Porcelain veneers typically take two visits.

01

Consultation and design

We discuss what you want changed, examine the teeth and gums, and plan the result. Cosmetic consultations at Flossophy are free.

02

Preparation and impressions

A thin layer of enamel is removed so the veneer sits flush, and impressions are taken for the laboratory. Temporary veneers are placed while your permanent ones are made.

03

Placement and fitting

The temporaries come off and the permanent veneers are bonded with a strong dental adhesive and cured with light for a secure fit. We check the bite and polish the margins.

Benefits

What veneers can correct

Aftercare

Looking after your veneers

Veneers are cared for much like natural teeth: brush twice a day, floss daily, and keep your routine cleaning appointments so we can check the margins where the veneer meets the tooth.

A few habits shorten their life — chewing ice or pens, opening packaging with your teeth, and unprotected night-time grinding. If you clench or grind, we will make you a night guard; it is the single most effective thing you can do to protect the investment.

Questions

Veneer FAQs

How long does the process take?

Porcelain veneers typically take two visits. At the first, your dentist evaluates your teeth, removes a thin layer of enamel and takes impressions so your custom veneers can be made, fitting temporaries in the meantime. At the second, the temporaries are removed and the permanent veneers are bonded in place.

Is the procedure reversible?

Because a thin layer of enamel is removed to make room for porcelain veneers, the preparation is not reversible. That is precisely why we spend time at the consultation making sure veneers are genuinely the right choice for you.

What does a veneer cost?

It depends on how many teeth are involved and the material chosen. We give you a written, itemised plan before anything begins, and monthly payment options are available through Cherry. Cosmetic consultations are free.
