Endodontics and root canals in Fort Worth

Modern root canal treatment and retreatment — comfortable, predictable and focused on keeping your natural tooth.

Endodontics

Specialised endodontic care that saves the natural tooth

Endodontics deals with the inside of the tooth — the pulp chamber and root canals where the nerve and blood supply live. When decay, a crack or trauma lets bacteria reach that space, the result is the kind of pain that stops you sleeping.

A root canal has an undeserved reputation. With modern anaesthesia, rotary instrumentation and CBCT imaging, the procedure itself is comparable to having a filling placed — and it is what relieves the pain rather than causes it.

Saving your own tooth is almost always better than replacing it. Nothing we can manufacture matches the way a natural root sits in bone.

Treatments

Endodontic services we provide

Root Canal Treatment

Removing infected pulp, disinfecting and sealing the canal system, then restoring the tooth — usually with a crown to protect it.

Endodontic Retreatment

When a previously treated tooth flares up again, retreatment reopens, re-cleans and re-seals the canals rather than losing the tooth.

Emergency Root Canal

Same-day intervention when infection has reached the nerve and the pain is severe. Relief first, definitive restoration after.

What to expect

We image the tooth first — often with CBCT, which shows the root anatomy in three dimensions rather than a flat X-ray silhouette. That means fewer surprises during treatment.

The tooth is thoroughly numbed, isolated, and the canal system is cleaned, shaped and sealed. Most single-root teeth are completed in one visit; molars sometimes take two.

Because a root-treated tooth is more brittle, we usually recommend a crown afterwards. That restoration is what determines whether the tooth lasts decades or fractures within a year.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does a root canal hurt?

The procedure itself should not. The tooth is fully anaesthetised, and most patients describe it as similar to having a filling done. The pain people associate with root canals is the infection beforehand — which is exactly what the treatment removes.

How long does a root-treated tooth last?

Properly treated and properly restored, it can last for decades. The most common cause of later failure is a delayed or missing crown, which allows the weakened tooth to fracture.

Can I just have the tooth pulled instead?

You can, but you then need to replace it — with an implant or a bridge — which is usually more expensive and more involved than saving the tooth in the first place.

What is endodontic retreatment?

If a previously root-treated tooth becomes painful or infected again, retreatment reopens the tooth, removes the old filling material, re-disinfects the canals and re-seals them. It is often the difference between keeping and losing the tooth.
